[Company] Yearly DVD/BD sales of Shaft - from 2ch

Here is nice round graph of Shaft's DVD/BD sales per series in each year;

Series: Negima!?, ef-a tale of memories, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Hidamari Sketch

Series: Ef- a tale of memories, Hidamari Sketch x 365, Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Series: Natsu no Arashi! season 2, Bakemonogatari, Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Natsu no Arashi!, Maria+Holic

Series: Hidamari Sketch 3 stars, Dance in the Vampire bund, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge, Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru

(*omg Bakeomonogatari)

It seems that Hidamari is a major money shuttle for Shaft. 472,028 for Bakemonogatari... orz. insane.

  2. A typo 'Hidamari Sketch x 265' out to be 'Hidamari Sketch x 365'.

  3. so the only one that failed miserably was natsu no arashi huh.

Then again because of SHAFT's crazy budget I guess you could say even ef melodies failed too?

    anyways I love shaft.

  4. @Anon: Remember, it is not average volume sales. It is TOTAL sales for the entire volume of the series. Both series of ef, soremachi, both season of arakawa, vando, natsu no arashi, failed in terms of financial success.

  5. Even if Shinbo didn't know that his works don't appeal to everyone, he could always take a hint... Sigh. =(((((
And I can understand Arakawa or Natsu no Arashi, with their specific humor... But Ef?! Try to be really creative with a date sim adaptation, and the audience ignores it? Sorry, but screw the audience in that case. ~_~

  6. awww man.... pretty ,uch enjoyed the Ef series... but wrt to bakemonogatari... expected nothing less

will madoka beat bakemonogatari hands down???

  7. Madoka most possibly won't beat Bakemonogatari
The current sales figures is about 75000 per volume max, times that by 6 you'll get the answer

  8. @Snork: The problem with Ef was in fact the story itself was not anything special, regardless of how direction did managed to make it look much fancier.

@Anon: Possiblity is still there, as Volume 1 DVD/BD is above 75,000, currently. If it can build up until the sales of 6th volume, it can get over 80,000.

Regardless, original animation means more benefit for Shaft than Bakemonogatari.

  9. regardless.... ef made me a shaft fag

any idea when kizumonogatari be out? heard that they were doing it

  10. @c2710: It will be around 2012. It was officially announced.

  11. I love hidamari cause it's lax, cute (miyakooo) and just a little funny. But yeah lax, love the music.
