[Madoka] Urobuchi watches Mado Magi Blu-ray

http://twitter.com/#!/Butch_Gen/status/64284870058319872

TS: For the checking purpose, I played Madoka Blu-ray, it's been a while I finished my job as its writer now, animation watching from the clear perspective of one audience leaves me various new discoveries and strong reminiscences - Aah... That's right... Tomoe Mami was indeed very cute and cool character.

... WHAT?...

YOU WILL GET NO SYMPATHY ME

...Moe killer never gets sympathy.

*Ps: One of Urobuchi's favourite belief is that character with big oppai is ok to kill....;;

[Blogging] Animation ring0tamegane likes/hates - My faourites/Hates

*Correct representation of my usual faec when watching animu*

Soooo, it seems like I've never, ever posted about my own usual taste for anime series. A single most important reason for making blog , as I stated on the intro-page, was to 'HYPE MADOKA MAGICA AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE'. Now I succeeded in it, and we all know how big that title is now~~ u.u~~ Thus, I need to twist my focus of my blog. Traffic for this shit-blog has been gradually increasing due to random 4chan fags who posts blog-thread to reverse-troll me as 'blog advertiser' (*thank you fags). Thus, it's time to really talk about what animation that I prefer or detest. This will be remain as featured post forever, and updated constantly.

Shaft is now happy since they have at least one series which they can parody whenever they want.

[Madoka]Not just Shinbo and Urobuchi, but also Iwakami P have intention to do sequel for Mado Magi

Not translating since I'm fuckin tried. Thus, if anyone wants to translate this, do it yourself and comment so that I can copy and paste (*ima lazy shit).

Producer Iwakami is someone I think as 'TRUE WINNER' of this series. It's not Shaft, Ume-zenzei, Kajiura yuuki, and not even Urobuchi. Iwakami P was someone who initially suggested original mahou shoujo series of Shaft, who gave Fate/Zero to Shinbo so that he knows who Urobuchi is, who brought Ume-sensei, Shaft and Kajiura for the unbeatable team. In this article, he says he does have some intention of doing sequel for Madoka Magica, which is 'confirmed own-age'. Most of 2ch response is negative, since they also think sequel will kill the greatness of original series.

Maybe he is just joking aside, just like Shinbo... and Urobuchi... maybe.. (*eh)

[Madoka] Volume BD 1st "DAY" sales - 22,000!!!!

http://mantan-web.jp/2011/04/28/20110428dog00m200055000c.html

The 'FIRST DAY' sales of Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica BD was 22,000. This has already passed Infinite Stratos first WEEK sales, 21,574. (lol)

Now... I really wonder how much this will sell more. Due to recall, I don't think first week sales will be necessarily important. We need to wait at least 2 more weeks to see its true ownage.

My current prediction:
1st week: BD = 55,000 DVD = 9,000, Total = 65,000
2nd week: another 10,000~20,000, Total = 7~85,000
3rd week: another 5,000~10,000, Total = 7~95,000

Anyway, awesome! Shaft-fag = Happy!

[Madoka] Volume 1 BD/DVD - Aniplex announces recall due to defective sound recording and misprinted guide book

http://www.madoka-magica.com/news/information.html

Due to mis-recording in the second episode and several typos from guide book, Aniplex decides to do recall for the defective disks. This isn't the first time Aniplex did mistake - Ore Imo booklet, Kara no Kyoukai Box, Shiki CD.... but recalling Blu-ray disk itself is quite out of ordinary.

But of course, that recording mistake was pretty hilarious. Shaft won't lose much from this, but Aniplex/Sony will get some damage. Well, I don't really care since Aniplex is evil.

[Info] You say animation industry is dying? Fuck your shit - Kadokawa Group Result forcast revised upward

http://www.animeanime.biz/all/114263/

Consolidated full-year earning forecast and dividends of Kadokawa Group Holdings for 2011 is revised upwards, in 26th of 8th. Consolidated net sales has increased from 136 billion yen to 140 billion 50 million yen. Operating income increased from 6.4 billion to 7.79 billion, ordinary income is from 7 billion to 8.57 billion yen. Net income also adjusted significantly higher from 2.3 billion to 6.36 billion yen; this is 2.8 times higher than initial prospect. Forecast for Year-end dividend also increased from 30 yen to 35 per week.

According to Kadokawa group, the major reason for brightened forecast is from the effect of TV animation adapted light-novels; power of media-mix. There were some delicious increase from the novels/manga that has benefited from this media-mix, thus earning increases. Major increase DVD/BD sales was also great advantage. (*Kadokawa price orz...)

Anyway, I really think people should STOP saying that 'animu industry is falling! orz' sort of thing. It is actually getting better due to creepy otakus. Depressions? That applied to basically every industry in the world, not just animu part.

[Info] Biglobe's Spring 2011 - Staisfaction + Disappointment survey.

'The best of the spring 2011 list from Biglobe'
http://anime.biglobe.ne.jp/userranking/title/5204/

  1. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
  2. Ano Hana
  3. Hana-saku Iroha
  4. TIGER & BUNNY
  5. Steins;Gate
  6. IS: Infinite Stratos
  7. Star Driver - Takuto of the light
  8. Nichijou
  9. Denpa Onna to Seishon Otoko
  10. A-Channel
My opinion on this list;
  • LOL IT'S MADO MAGI. What do you expect?
  • I'm really glad otaku is definitely showing some taste. Ano Hana IS the best animation of this season, for me.
  • Hana-saku? It is refreshing for some, not for others. But 3rd episode changed my opinion. It IS a good show. Much better than average series.
  • Tiger & Bunny is the dark horse of this season. Fujoushi loves it.
  • Ah, if I rate by satisfaction only, Steins;Gate probably is the top in my own list. Mystery is <3
  • I want Denpa Onna higher on the list. But 9th place isn't bad anyway.

'The worst of the spring 2011 list from biglobe'
http://anime.biglobe.ne.jp/userranking/title/5283/

  1. Nichijou
  2. Steins;Gate
  3. Dog Days
  4. Health Education for 30s
  5. Hana-saku Iroha
  6. TIGER & BUNNY
  7. Hidan no Aria
  8. Denpa Onna to Seishon Otoko
  9. Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa nai
  10. A-Channel
My personal opinion on this list;
  • I, totally agree with the disappointment over Nichijou. Directions are just horrible. It is boring series, which we normally don't expect from Kyoani production. Sadly, it requires some endurance to keep your eyes on horribly spaced gags and disconnected sequences that cuts your attention consecutively.
  • In case of Steins;Gate, it's VN adaptation, what do you expect? Not everyone will be satisfied. Beside, some people will get confused  since they are dumb due to its 'supposedly' ridiculous pacing and chu-ni-byou annoyingness of Miyano Mamoru.
  • DOG DAYS = Utter disappointment. Completely agree.
  • Hidan no Aria... lol... I had absolutely no expectation for this series, and it seems a lot of others did. Honestly, there was nothing that is special about that series.
  • A-Channel is 10th place in this list again. In my case, I hated it. Boring as fuck.

Well duh. Just by the fact Nichijou is on the top of 'disappointment' list, I approve this entire survey.

[Madoka] BD/DVD all volume listed on top for all preorder rankings

TS: Due to the influence of the last episode broadcasting of 'Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica', orders are rushing in. Especially, the potential for first volume BD with our company's original addition is ridiculous. There won't be any stock left until its release.

TS: Really, stock was drained terrifyingly fast just yesterday. Our company's piling the unprecedented amount of the first volume shipping, it is still not enough. HMV ONLINE total ranking 3rd place is extraordinary potential.

[Review] Hana-saku Iroah Third episode

Oh my god...

Nice troll Okada. Preorder ranking skyrocketed just because of these scenes + craziest storyboard that morning drama can ever get.

Saturday, April 16, 2011

[Info] Hana-saku Iroha - Already completed until 10th episode

Kishida Mel says that the animation of Hana-saku Iroha is already completed until 10th episode. PA work's team never disappoints me (unlike certain studio starting with 's' that finishes episode one day before its airing). Also 10th episode is supposed to be godly according to that same person, so we will see.

[Review] Spring 2011 first impression - TIER RANKING

Here is my 'personal, opinionated' tier ranking for the first impression of this season's series. The tier will be divided as;

E = Horrible, 0% chance of following, dropped.
D = Bad. 20% chance of following till the end. Re-watch value is zero.
C = Mediocre. 60% chance of following till the end, but Re-watch value is very low.
B = Decent. Sometimes involves my bias. Chance of following until the end is 90%.
A = Very good and enjoyable. 100% chance of following the series until the end.
S = Extremely good series. The best of best, tops the season's ranking.
SS = Anything that is close to masterpiece, but missed it due to 1% of mistakes. Also never given during the first impression ranking.
SSS = Masterpiece, but this rank never happens for the first impression ranking. This can only be given when it is perfect from the start to the end of the series.
---------------

E TIER

  <DOG DAYS>
"DOG DAYS" throws away seriousness of the war, and make it some kind of toy fighting. It's lack of seriousness is constantly turning me off. Concept of 'turning into the animal' or 'strip-show' when dies is way too childish, and makes entire thing incredibly boring. Direction is all over the place, so I cannot concentrate on single scene properly. This makes me even wonder if seven-arcs even have an ability to produce proper animation other than Nanoha the Devil Queen (Oh, it was founded by Akiyuki Shinbo, so not even their original works).

<Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai>
I heard a lot of good receptions about its original VN. Even though I hate Nishimata Aoi's design so much, I decided to have a look at it. I even endured all those disturbing pantsu shots and.... AND....

One of the character was, fuckin, the most, ridiculous, chuni-byou I've ever seen. Automatically dropped, Kusoge adaptation is Kuso.

D TIER

 <A-Channel>
Let's start with the good things, characters are cute, eye purification level is definitely decent. Voice actors are fine, except Yuuki Aoi's voicing loli nagato.

It's by Saki's team, but... it was just boring. How should I care about ANYONE in this anime? The first 5 minutes are enough to tell you how bad direction of this animation is. It was practically impossible to keep my eyes in the screen, due to dullness of character design, colour palette, loose animation, and most of all, absolutely pointless storylines that does not even bring me to be turned on by moeness. Seriously, I appreciate moe most of the time, but this is just boring as hell.

C TIER

 <C>
Soooo, we have 'C' in C tier.

The premises weren't half bad. It was very promising one, directed by Nakamura Kenji from Mononoke and Kuuchu Buranko. However, 1st episode disappointed me.

The problem is that I cannot erase the feeling that this animation is trying to just 'force' the idea of 'money is everything!' without realistic and deeper insight. After Kyuube the Human form makes contract with our poor haremless Ichika (*seiyuu-gag), it suddenly turns into shonen psychic-monster battle adventure whatever thing. I even started thing, 'was it even about money?'. Well, it is only first episode, so it is open for development, but the first impression definitely wasn't good as I though.

<Hidan no Aria>
I say this, if JC-staff made Infinite Stratos, this will be an exact form it will take. It is basically, clone of Infinite Stratos. Textbook-following cliche with big big harem, with 'supposed to be cool' protagonist. Oh my, they even added Kugimin tsundere show. How familiar!

Regardless, it ended up being exactly as I expected. Bad, but still watch since there 'were' actually some good parts to follow on. However, I will still end up dropping this in early stage.

<Hana-saku Iroha>
One word to describe this series is 'morning drama'. There is nothing really special about the story. However, what saves this is main character Ohana and god-like sakuga. Sekiguchi Kanami's return was surely massive. PA Work's quality finally returned from shit-sucks-badness of Angel Beats to CANAAN/True Tears quality era. That alone is enough quality to make this top priority series for me.

Ohana is so moe. I want to see her getting teased more. :3

<Nichijou>
Most of its part left me disappointed, honestly. It was based on my destroyed faith on Kyoto Animation's directional ability. So many parts that is supposed to be funny ended up being boring and tired some, they were repeating exactly same technique and spacing for every single comedy scenes, which is hilariously bad. Same as Hana saku Iroha, the thing that keeps me from watching this is SAKUGA. Animation quality is just INSANE. I mean seriously, wiener scene and racing part was just over kill. Even though it wasn't funny at all, my eye was pleased with it.

Now I think of it, I forgot to write about the reason why Manglobe fail. Oh well. Direction was very very bad as usual, but there was some improvements, some better directions here and there. I was a bit surprised with that. Nevertheless, Keima is god. No contest.

<Steins;Gate>
Yep, this series is indeed awesome. It's episode two, and infinite amount of foreshadowing is already released, which is keeping my interest constantly on high position. Although pacing makes some parts a bit confusing, it wasn't that hard to think. From some powerful directions, I could feel staffs deep attachment to this series. Very impressive.

Another major strength of this series was character. Okarin is 'real life' chuni-byou character, which is very rare in normal series. His delusional approach nothing more than role play, which is one of the crucial element to keep mood in balance between light and serious mood. Mayushi is cute and Hanakana is just <3. Other characters are very interesting too, including beautiful Makise Kurisu and Nyan nyan girl who also seems to suffer Chuni-byou.

<Denpa Onna to Seishon Otoko>
Shaft series never disappoints me, period. I loved it. Downside was that there was 'way too much' denpa to understand what the hell is going on with the story, and how author is trying to be '2nd Nisioisin' with less than witty dialogues. Other than that, it is very good. Animation and character design is just top class this season. Seriously, Meme and Erio is sooooooooooooooooo cute and moe! Eye purification level is almost infinite. The main character isn't too bad either; I can see his potential as expert tsukomi. I look for to this much more.

I hate OP so much. But I'm listening it again and again. (*eh?)

and finally......

S TIER
Yeah, you might be surprised. The S-tier animation, in other words, the series with the best first impression + high possibility of becoming masterpiece was NOT Steins;Gate. There was something more amazing, and that extremely good animation that I just kick myself for underestimating is...

<Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai>

TS: We still don't know the name of the flower I saw that day.

;_________________;

Nagai Tatsuyuki, you did it. Seriously, this has almost 99% chance of becoming masterpiece. I've never seen something that is flawless as this episode. This shows how important direction is when portraying the story properly.

It's funny that Okada Mari is writing story for both Hana-saku Irohad and Ano Hana, but this one is far superior. Supported by flawless directions, this story is nothing like korean-morning-drama at all. They managed to create this much depressing+tear jerking mood in just one episode, and even that was amazingly done.

From the start to the end, including OP, ED and music, it was perfect. Instant S, and watching this. This is golden, noitaminA is finally saved.

[2ch] Crazy SHAFT - even involved in new Yu-gi-oh series

 If you see the right down bottom of the credit, Shaft is there. They are providing original pictures (Genga) for new Yu-gi-oh animation.

I mean seriously. Who's the boss of Shaft? (Tip: It's not Shinbo who is responsible for adding new project, it is head of the company.) They have tons of work in hand, and they still have time (or need-for-moneymoneymoney) to help on other mainstream-animation work? Hell, that's one crazy stuff.

[Info] Spring 2011 1st volume preorder ranking assessment = First week result

Here is 1st week result of BD 1st volume preorder ranking for Spring 2011 animation releases. There are still some series that isn't listed, including Nichijou, or some un-aired ones like Denpa Onna. It is one of the easiest way find out the popularity of each series. So...

Amazon BD Preorder Ranking (2:00 PM, 14/04/2011):
1. 5th - TIGER & BUNNY
2. 37th - Steins;Gate
3. 88th - Denpa Onna no Seishon Otoko
4. 100th - Hana-saku Iroha
5. 237th - DOG DAYS
6. 360th - A-Channel
-----------My personal 'failure' line-----------
7. 649th - Asutalotte no Omocha
8. 740th - Maria+Holic
9. 856th - Hoshizora he Kakaru Hashi
10. 1460th - Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Na
11. 1593rd - SofuTeni
12. 1744th - Dororon Enma Kun Meeramera
13. 2217th - Ao no Exorcist
14. 2995th - Health Education for 30
*For DVD, Sekaiichi Hatsukoi is in the first place, with the rank of 120.

Amazon BD Cumulative Point (14/04/2011):
*Based on previous ranking history*
1. 1036pt - Steins;Gate
2. 348pt - TIGER & BUNNY
3. 122pt - Hana-saku Iroha
4. 48pt - Denpa Onna no Seishon Otoko
5. 23pt - A-Channel
-----------Others are not even mentionable-----------

Nico Nico Preorder (14/04/2011):
*pp = Number of people who preordered from Nico Nico*
1. 205 pp - Steins;Gate
2. 82 pp -TIGER & BUNNY
3. 34 pp - Hana-saku Iroha
-----------Others are not even mentionable-----------

'TIGER & BUNNY' is getting tons of fujoshi/gaijin hype, and getting very high ranking. This is very, very unexpected. In long term, Steins;Gate is getting more attention, but with its airing, ranking dropped a bit. Still very high though. Next place is Denpa Onna, which hasn't even aired. Obviously, the influence is original-novel fans + Shaft fans. Hana-saku Iroha is doing average job currently.

Edited: Wow, Tiger Bunny is in first place now, even above Madoka Magica. Fujoshi hype is very, very scary.

[Fuck] Ishihara Shintaro is elected again - animation = DEATH

If you see the graph, you will see how-fucked-up-this-is.

Now, the next one;

Age matters. People with age above 40 are basically 'brainwashed' to vote Ishihara Shintaro. That's how Japan has been since long time ago for any governor. Regardless of how much shit he does, Ishihara will always get elected.

One interesting thing is that he is extremely good creator of the reaction image.

[Madoka] 11th 12th episode airing date confirmed.

Source: http://www.madoka-magica.com/

According to its official website, Madoka Magica 11th and 12th episode is airing on 4/21, Thursday night at the same time slot, airing both episode at once.

What can I say....

FUCK YEESSSSSSSSSSSS

[BlogBlog] My animation/info twitter account.

I had this for a long time, but just posting my twitter link. I don't post every single news in blog; there are some minor ones which is obviously to small (actually it's myself being lazy...) to make an entry. I recently started to just twit those so that I can have a track of those information without forgetting.

[Data Base] C Cube - is directed by Oonuma Shin + SLIVER LINK

Totally unexpected this. 'C³' was planned for anime adaptation, which is now announced to be animated by member of 'Team Shinbo', Oonuma Shin and Silverlink. Now, I really wonder if Oonuma Shin does actually belongs to Shaft now. (I will rather call 'Sliver Link' belongs to Shaft though, since Oonuma Shin is influenced way too much by Shinbo style.)

Another important staff position is, Saito Yoshinari, who is experienced with Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha action sequences. Very interesting.

(*Edited: I read spoilers on its vol 1 light novel, and all these promises of moe and love comedy is supposed to be troll. It has gore.)

[Madoka] Jesus christ, Urobuchi... your twitter image...

and I saw his another profile image which was...

[Denpa] DVD/BD listed - Rumour was wrong, BD released on June

http://www.starchild.co.jp/special/denpa/product/bddvd.html

Sorry for posting rumour last time, there was no Seitokai strategy. BD/DVD vol 1 will be released on 22nd of June, vol 2 on July.

[Madoka] Evil Urobuchi - 'Planning for next animation underground!'

Profile of Urobuchi from magazine reads that he is planning for another animation project underground that isn't Madoka Magica. I guess, he will become one of the most successful eroge-scenario writer ever existed, and he already has capability of doing that.

but all the protagonist will fall into despair and hit the bottom of the hell anyway.

[Seiyuu] Hirano Aya - "I was porhibited from doing any new voice acting"

Hirano Aya, our biggest trouble maker in seiyuu industry, posts shocking tweets that she was not allowed to involve in ANY new voice acting role by the office since last year.

*TS:
Even with the prohibition from new animation since the last year, I'm really glad that I still have 2nd season work and long-term series!
---
2nd season one is Kimi ni Todoke, and Long-term one was Fariy-tail from what I know. Then....

WHO'S DOING THE KISS-SHOT IN KIZUMONOGATARI?!!!!!!!!

This is the biggest mystery now.

[Preview] Season's Darkhorse - Dororon Enma-kun????

New Spring Release animation, Dororon Enma-kun Meeramera (TV), is receiving generally positive receptions in 2ch. Myself hasn't seen it, except....

[Shutage] Volume 1 Bluray - cover + content info released

This is a content for volume 1 BD content for Steins;Gate. Limited edition will have huke designed cover + character song, randomly provided film-cut of an episode, drama CD etc... Some marketing going on, there.

[Shutage] Even 2ch guys discusses about Yanki-taku's reviews on Steins;Gate - Spring 2011 BD preorder

Continuation from here;

Edited:
Yaraon's blog showed an interesting article about one 2ch post which discusses about the response of gaijin otaku towards their so called 'Kami-game' Steins;Gate, linking 4chan and Animesuki.

------------------

Spring animation release BD Preorder ranking;
1st- Steins;Gate
2nd - TIGER & BUNNY
3rd - Hana-saku iroha

No question here. Steins;Gate is supposed to be the most anticipated animation in Japan, and its preorder ranking once went even above Madoka when it was first listed.

[Colume] Why Infinite Stratos sells? - Analysis for the success of IS

One of the greatest question for Gaijin world that seems to be experiencing is ridiculous popularity of Infinite Stratos.

http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20110406-00000000-mantan-ent

and, it happened. BD sales of Infinite Stratos sell total 22,000 (godly, even beating Oreno Imouto), marking 6th animation series to be listed 1st place in Oricon chart followed by Bakemonogatari, Macross F, K-On, Code Geass and Angel Beats. Including DVD sales of 7,794, it is almost 30,000 sales.

I saw a lot of people blaming Japan's bad taste. However, if you actually read 2ch, you will find how much Japanese otakus are actually in the same boat as us, questioning 'why this thing sells this much?'. Even for them, 30,000 is a bit over-kill. "IS is absurd, ridiculous, moe-fested, doesn't make any sense, polluted by cliche+forgettable characters, and has absolutely no merit of being unique, interesting series".

The answer is - rather complex.

[Shutage] ... I'm surprised.

Steins;Gate is seriously unhyped in gaijin world. I guess either people are biased due to shit-sucks-ness of Chaos;Head or confused due to Okarin's complete chunibyou action.

Either way, Steins;Gate was the only thing that was genuinely interesting this season, for me. For Nichijou and HanaIro, both of them had superior animation/art quality, but with very disappointing contents. Of course I will watch them still, but that can't surpass my new-born fanboism for nitro+.

(*still shaft-fag, though)

[Review] Spring 2011 - First impression; April 5th

This will be (extremely) brief summary of the my current first impression for series;

Hana-saku Iroha = Oooooooooook, wonderful visual, wonderful music. But, morning drama storyline which is done 100 times before. I don't think this will be anything that is memorable

Nichijou = 'Too good to be true' quality for a mere astral not-so-slice-of-life comedy show, expected from Kyoto Animation. However, it was boring than funny most of the time.

Steins;Gate = Nico Nico quality is shit, but most impressing one so far. I was so focused during the entire episode.

DONE.

[Info] Dengeki Online - Spring 2011 Animation anticipation ranking

Source: http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/357/357746/

1. Hidan no Aria
2. Denpa Onna no Seishun Otoko
3. Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai II
4. Nichijou
5. A-Channel
6. Hana-Saku Iroha
7. Ao no Exocist
8. C
9. Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai
10. Kaiji 2nd season

Steins;Gate isn't there... ;_;... Very different list from the Anime-one

Oh well, the voters are light novel-based animation fans after all. (*Dengeki) Hidan no Aria is sure getting lots of attention, when my anticipation on it is almost zero. However, it's a media-mix after all. Like how Madoka Magica won over IS by infinite mile unlike actually rankings in anticipation, I'm waiting for Steins;Gate being the best of this season.

Anime-One ranking is here.
